Pastel Fall Prints
Pastel Fall Prints
When we think fall or autumn, our minds imagine the colors of changing leaves: orange, brown, red, and gold. I love those colors, but some shades really don't do much for my cool complexion. So when fall arrives, I tend to keep my cool colors near my face and if I wear warmer colors, it's usually pants or skirts.
However, sometimes I throw caution to the wind, and I just dress in colors that are perfect for me. That's what happened when I put together my pastel fall outfit. The flower print in my top is popular for fall, but it's not in the autumn colors.
My following outfit was inspired by the top.
This top is everything I look for in a casual piece. It has 3/4 sleeves, so the sleeves do not end near my bustline. It also has a nice scoop neck, which is good for us as we age. The attention is not drawn to our neck, and the neckline gives us the opportunity to wear statement jewelry. I chose a turquoise necklace that picks up the blues in the shirt. The flower print is delightful. It allows me to wear a number of different colors and the all-over print takes away any focus on one area.
I decided to pair my floral print with a pair of Chico's sateen jeggings in a soft lavender color, not a fall shade.
The jeggings are slightly longer than the top of my booties, so I chose to let them puddle on the bootie instead of folding them or tucking the legs into the booties. This is another option when wearing your fall boots. I also chose a soft beige color boot, so the boots blend with the pants keeping the leg line longer.
Finally, I added a gold bracelet, gold hoop earrings, and a tan/cream purse. The colors add a touch of fall and warmth.
Don't feel you have to wear the warm colors of fall when the calendar turns to October. Be creative and wear what makes you feel good. Too often we are influenced by all the ads and articles telling us to put away the white jeans and pastels. Not me. I love the light colors, as well as darker shades. I just wear what works for me.
Have a fabulous weekend. And to my Northern friends, enjoy those cool days of fall. I'm still waiting to wear my booties. Once I took these pics, I was back into sandals.
