Discovering Your Style

Discovering Your Style
I've been busy this past week taking a 5-Day course by 40 + Style. The course was a called Find Your Style Challenge. Each day you had specific assignments to explore your personality, your likes and dislikes, and what you feel most comfortable wearing. It included looking at your lifestyle, as well as exploring your comfort zone.
Part of the challenge was to post pictures of outfits and be critiqued. In return, it's your responsibility to critique others.
The course was fun and enlightening. I learned that I have a bit of a Jennifer Aniston style which is simple chic. I also prefer a classic look with a bit of fashion trend.
Here's a couple of pictures I used for my critiques:

I received great reviews, but one picture was really loved by everyone. Here it is:

Everyone loved the colors, especially the white with the scarf.
If you want to explore your style, begin by looking at your personality. I did a personality test which was provided by the group. T…

The Indispensable Blazer

The Indispensable Blazer
Living in Florida, I rarely get to wear a blazer, and I love blazers. I have a number of them hanging in my closet, and when cool nights arrive, I always reach for one.
The blazer is perfect for fall, especially if you live in a northern climate with cool, dry days. It doesn't matter what you pair the blazer with, it looks great. To show it's ability to compliment the simplest outfit, I chose three blazers to wear with the same outfit which is white cropped jeans, a tan shell, and bronze sandals. My jewelry is lia sophia, pieces from when I was a consultant.
My first choice is my Chico's embroidered blazer that I've had for a few years. It has swirls of turquoise and dark brown with gold thread and beads.

This jacket is lined, so I only wear it when it gets really cool for Florida. Even though it has a dressy look, it works great with jeans and a T-shirt as well as dress pants.
My next jacket is an unlined black blazer that I can wear more often i…

More Cruising

More Cruising
Our next cruise will be a Caribbean cruise to Jamaica, Cozumel, and the Cayman Islands. Needless to say, I'm already planning my clothes.
One item I'm definitely taking is my new tent dress I bought from Susan Street. Susan is a blogger who now has a clothing and accessories shop on her site. Her taste is impeccable, so I'm always checking out her latest finds.
The tent dress is a perfect choice to wear when visiting the islands. It can serve as a cover up for my swimsuit or just a comfortable dress to wear while shopping.

I love the details in this simple dress. It has a handkerchief hemline and pockets on the side for convenience. The cotton material is perfect for the heat. I added a sun hat and sandals to complete my casual look. I probably will use another tote for the trip. I just liked this bag to complete the look of the outfit.
Susan doesn't have anymore of these dresses, but she has lots of items. You can see her collection here.

Oh, here's a …

Surviving Irma

Surviving Irma
Irma has passed, but it left behind a lot of devastation. Many Floridians are still without power. Let's keep our thoughts with all struggling during this time.
We received a mandatory evacuation last week, so decided it would be best to get on the road immediately. We left Friday afternoon for Auburn, Alabama. The trip was slow with lines for gas.

Even Charlie couldn't believe how bad the traffic was.

Saturday and Sunday we watched The Weather Channel religiously. Monday Irma arrived in Alabama as a tropical storm, raising havoc with the area. Power was out in many places along with downed trees.
While we were in Auburn, Alabama, we only had a few days of sunshine. We took the pups to a park, and to get ourselves out of the hotel room. This picture was taken the day before Irma arrived. The wind was already blowing.

Our plan was to leave on Tuesday to return home, but the roads were bumper to bumper traffic, and we would return to no power. So, we stayed and finall…

A Pastel Fall Outfit

A Pastel Fall Outfit
Once Labor Day is over, it seems like fall is really here, and depending on where you live, you may be feeling the cooler air.
It's still fairly warm in the South, though we've been experiencing bands of rain from the fallout of Hurricane Harvey. I can't complain. The people in Texas are really struggling. My heart goes out to them.
My outfit today is a twist on the regular darker colors of fall. My sister and I have been busy styling our kimonos and scarf vests for our upcoming arts and craft show. So, this outfit showcases a new scarf kimono along with my sister's latest jewelry design.

Our new scarf vest or kimono is a refreshing take on plaid. It's gray, silver, and pink. The fringe is fun as well as the lightness of this viscose material. You can wear this inside or outdoors and feel comfortable. I chose to pair it with my Chico's lavender jeans, a white shell, and neutral shoes. This topper would look great with gray slacks or regular b…
