The Classic Look

The Classic Look

Don't you just love a classic look? For me, it's either black and white or navy and white. To celebrate the dog days of August, I chose a classic outfit in navy and white with a touch of gold and bronze.

My look is created with older items in my closet. The only new item is the pair of wedged sandals. Otherwise, I relied on what I already had to make an outfit perfect for a summer day.

Here's how I created it. I started with a navy blue shell with white piping, a classic look. I've had this shell for years. I believe I bought it in Macy's. I added a pair of white crops, though I could have added white linen pants for a slightly more dressed look. My lace summer cover up is from Coldwater Creek. I've had this jacket for 4 or 5 years. It's perfect for a warm summer day.

I detailed my outfit with gold jewelry and my bronze colored wedges. A simple long necklace, gold earrings, and a gold bracelet complement my choices. I didn't layer necklaces because I wanted my classic look to stay simple.

And because the sun will be out today, I have a white hat and my sunglasses. That's the outfit, simple and classic.

What do you have in your closet to create a simple but classic look? Look at your basic colors, such as black, white, navy, or tan and beige, if you prefer warm colors. Keep it simple, little jewelry and solid colors.

Enjoy the August heat, everyone!
