Animal Print and Jeans

Animal Print and Jeans

When I was teaching, I marked my summers by my sons' birthdays. My youngest son's birthday is June 13, the start of school vacation for me. My oldest son's birthday is August 25, back to work for me.

And like all summers in Maine, I could predict warm weather until the end of September, but August would bring cool evenings and warm but dry summer days. So as we enter that beautiful time of year when the weather starts to transition, we also think how we can transition our clothes.

Two accessories to get you through this ambiguous time of year are the jean jacket and an animal print item. Both work well together and will keep you looking like you're on top of the weather game.

Let's begin with animal print shoes and a traditional jean jacket.

Keep wearing those white jeans, even after Labor Day! The jean jacket works well with them and the jacket keeps you warm, if the evenings are cool. I added a black shell and my animal print shoes. Notice that I didn't add any other animal print. I kept it simple, but did add gold jewelry to create a cohesive look.

Animal print scarves are a great accessory to wear, as well.

I changed up the jean jacket for a more fitted jacket. As I've said before, I own a number of jean jackets because they are so versatile. In these pictures, I chose to accessorize with the animal print scarf and a large brown purse. I changed the shoes because I didn't want too many statement pieces with the animal print scarf. If it gets cool, the scarf is ready to wear around my neck.

Summer is still here with plenty of warm weather, but consider pulling out that jean jacket. If you don't have anything in animal print, go shopping for something fun! Now, for me, I'll have to put the jean jacket on the back burner for another month or two until the weather in Florida cools some. I can still wear my animal print, though :)

Have a wonderful weekend.
