Off-the-Shoulder Alternative

I just love the off-the-shoulder tops so popular right now. My favorites are the cotton tops with lace trim. Alas, I just don't feel comfortable wearing an off-the-shoulder top or dress. And, as I grow older, I want to feel comfortable in the choices I make for an outfit.

So, I came up with an alternative. I have a Caribbean Joe top I purchased a year ago, but rarely wear. I pulled it out the other day and took another look. It's perfect for an alternative choice. It's cotton, has lace trim, and has that blouson look similar to many of the off-the-shoulder tops.

And here it is. I love the blue and I love the lace trim. The cap sleeves are nice, as well. I added a blue and gold necklace that my niece gave me to enhance the blue color. It's light enough for hot days, so I'll be wearing this top often this summer.

I paired the top with my white jeggings. I chose a tan hat and tan shoes that have gold studs. To keep with primary colors, I chose a yellow purse that has tan trim. See where I'm going with these choices? The tans and golds add symmetry to my completed look.

Sometimes, fashion can throw us for a loop. No matter our age, we want to look stylish. There are alternative choices. Mine was hanging right in my closet.

If you can wear the off-the-shoulder tops, go for it! It's all about being comfortable in our own skin.

I hope your day is full of sunshine. Looks like rain for us.
