Memorial Day Outfit

Every morning, Jack puts the flag out and salutes it. I wouldn't expect less from a Viet Nam vet, retired police captain, and retired firefighter. The flag is important to us and all it represents.

Since Memorial Day is approaching, I wanted an outfit that included our flag colors. I found it in a simple shift dress.

In January, we took a cruise with my son and son-in-law. I happened to be in Walgreen's picking up last minute suntan lotion when I spotted a rack of summer cover ups. Remember, I live in Florida, so sun hats, flip flops and summer dresses are available year round. I found the cutest shift dress that I couldn't resist. It would be perfect to wear over my swim suit and hitting the local shops in port. It was $10, too!

The shift dress has been hanging in my closet since the cruise. I pulled it out to see what I could create for a patriotic themed outfit of the day. The result is in the picture above. The shift dress pulls over your head and hangs loose, so I added a wide belt to shape it more. To complement the blue in the pattern, I put on a light jacket from Chico's. The jacket is a few years old, so it isn't available now.

Accessories are simple. I added a necklace that has the same pattern as the dress. This is an inexpensive necklace I picked up for modeling my Etsy clothes. It has the same pattern as the dress, uncanny.

Because the necklace is silver, I decided to go with a silver belt instead of matching the blue, red, or white in the dress. It worked.
My shoes are a sandal with bling which carries the silver theme from top to bottom.

And that completes my outfit except for the purse which is red :)

As we near Memorial Day, say Thank You to a vet, visit a cemetery to honor your loved ones, and appreciate all we have.

Have a wonderful day!
