Dressing for Florida

My sister challenged me to do an outfit that is perfect for a summer day in Florida. Summer in Florida is hot and humid. The less clothes, the better, but of course, we need to cover up. Floridians rely on light, silky and soft materials that drape the body well. As much as we love scarves, once it gets hot, we switch to jewelry instead of scarves for an accessory. Sandals are a must, but we love sparkle, color, and comfort. For clothes, we love large prints, bright shades, and basic combinations such as black and white.

I chose palazzo styled pants in a palm tree print. The material is soft and flowing, so it doesn't stick to my skin. The shell is from Chico's and drapes over the palazzo pants given me freedom to move easily. My sandals are light with a little bling. To top off the outfit, I added some accessories. The pink purse breaks up the black and white. The jewelry accentuates the black and white combo.

The picture above is a close up of the jewelry. I'm wearing 2 necklaces, a black and white bracelet and white earrings with black trim.

I'll be adding more blogs about dressing for warm weather. The key is to find soft and silky material that drapes well. Look for jewelry that is bold and fun. Sandals are great, and there are so many styles. Consider bright colors or a little bling. Skimmer styled flats work well, too.

Have a great day! And Northerners, I hope the sunshine is coming your way.
