My Health Journey

My Health Journey

Welcome October! For those of you in the North, you are experiencing the best time of the year with all the beautiful foliage. For those of us in the South, we are getting a break from the humidity.

The summer went fast. Perhaps for me, it was due to a focus on my health. Three months ago I changed my eating habits to improve my diabetes numbers as well as my weight. The journey continues, but I'm having great success. My doctor is pleased with the numbers and encouraged me to lose a little more weight. I'm 7 pounds from the goal.

In the meantime, I picked up a book called Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. It has reaffirmed the new diet choices I'm making, but it's also enlightening. I never knew that vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds are SO essential to our health. I encourage everyone to check out the book, even if weight is not an issue. It's all about doing the best for us.

I'm enjoying the weight loss, but I'm also enjoying feeling better. I eat six small meals a day for the diabetes, and I've cut way back on animal protein. I also avoid white products such as white rice, white flour, and white pasta.

It's a journey to feeling better, and just as healthier eating will benefit us, so doesn't  taking the time to dress up help us feel better. An outfit can give us confidence. Feeling confident is so important for our psyche.

Today, I decided to do a monochromatic look. You can't beat wearing one color to make you look slimmer, and therefore, more confident.

My blues do not match because that would be boring, to me. Instead, I added a lighter blue jacket to my navy blue shell and navy blue pants. I also added a long necklace that has multi-colors to break up all the blue.

Here is the outfit without the jacket. Instead, I added a slim scarf. Like the jacket, it's a different shade of blue.

The scarf is long to help me create the slimmer look, but it's a teal color. Yes, you can match royal blue with navy blue or a teal blue with navy blue. Experiment with different shades of the same color; it's fun.

Enjoy the rest of the day. I hope it's full of sunshine and beautiful colors :) And check out Eat to Live. I bought mine through Amazon.
